Overview

Hero Converter is a privacy-first tool. Your files — images, video, audio, and documents — are processed entirely within your browser and are never uploaded to any server. We believe your files are your business, and we have designed our service accordingly.

Data We Collect

Files

None. All file conversion happens locally in your browser using native browser APIs and WebAssembly technology. Your files never leave your device. No files are uploaded, stored, or processed on any server. This applies to all supported formats including images (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, SVG, BMP, GIF, ICO, TIFF), video (MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI, MKV), audio (MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, OGG), and documents (PDF, DOCX).

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics service. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and is fully compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and PECR. We only see anonymous, aggregate data such as page views and referral sources.

Local Storage

We store the following in your browser's localStorage (not cookies):

  • Your dark/light mode preference (functional only)
  • Your cookie consent choice

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements that help keep Hero Converter free. If you consent to advertising cookies, Google may collect data to serve personalized ads. If you decline, only non-personalized ads are shown.

Cookies

Hero Converter itself does not set cookies. Our analytics provider (Plausible) is cookieless by design. Google AdSense may set cookies if you accept them via our consent banner. See our Cookie Policy for full details.

Third-Party Services

  • Plausible Analytics — Privacy-friendly analytics (no cookies, no personal data).
  • Google AdSense — Advertising service. May set cookies with your consent.
  • Vercel — Hosting provider for serving the website's static files.

GDPR & CCPA Compliance

We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Since we do not collect personal data from file conversions, most data subject rights are satisfied by design. For advertising data, you can exercise your rights through Google's privacy controls.

Children's Privacy

Our service does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
